Rainbow babies are born after the loss of a previous child. I love this explanation:

Little Miss Brooklyn's family lost her older sister Brilynn when she was just shy of 2 months old to a congenital heart defect. While Brilynn's time here on earth was short her footprints are forever on the hearts of so many who knew her and loved her dearly. While the pain will always be there from their great loss, Brooklyn will forever serve as a reminder that sometimes after the greatest storms we face in life a beautiful and wonderful gift of hope and comfort can follow.
